Night Watcher

Image

Nested within your heart
Amplified by the hole you have there,
Thirsty filling you
With a thirst for night songs,
Thrown into the dark
For those who are awake ~
The watcher comes
Curled into you there ~
Caring not to remain long.

So lay upon my breast ~
As the light reaches back,
As I turn my head to dark muted spaces
Where nocturne nightingales vainly sing ~
We shall come
Away from the sun that blinds,
We shall embrace our cosmic entropy
Running a burn trail through our synapses ~
We shall come
Tick-ticking away this waning oblivion,
With a gravity of narrow sadness
Squeezed into a burrow of shadowed embrace ~
Only leading us on
If we don’t scream now
So life may call up the storm,
The churning broil of creation’s mix ~
We may never throw our hearts into compassion
A small spark ricocheting savagely,
A small speck temporarily haloed ~
If we do not go beloved ~~
Seeking a holy message in this dissolution
Before the sudden extinction into black.

So be with me now,
In this moment let me,
Let me care to be nested within your heart
Amplified by the hole you have there ~
Thirsty filling you
With a thirst for night songs
Thrown into the dark for those who are awake!
